David Purcey starts in AAA

David Purcey threw a great game for AAA Las Vegas today, allowing only 1 hit and 2 ER over 6.1 innings. However, he did walk 5 batters, indicating his control may have been a little off. He threw a total of 104 pitches and seems very close to making a return to the big club.

If Purcey is recalled sometime this week, it could be at the expense of Bret Cecil who was just called up along with Robert Ray earlier this week. Either way, it will sure help strengthen the rotation.

SP - Dustin McGowan: 15 day DL, could miss the season, injury is a frayed labrum (had surgery)
SP - Shaun Marcum: 15 day DL, could return in September, injury is torn elbow ligament (had surgery in Sept '08)
SP - Jesse Litsch: 15 Day DL, could return mid-May, injury is forearm tightness (is throwing)
SP - Ricky Romero: 15 day DL, should return early May, injury is a right oblique muscle strain
RP - BJ Ryan: 15 day DL, shut down with left trapezius tightness (not throwing)
C - Michael Barrett: 15 day DL, possibly back in May, injury is a right should tear (re-evaluation 2 May - today)
